Don't worry, I'm not recommending that you become a fashion model, and walk the fashion runway in an effort to lose weight. I do want to emphasize how powerful it can be to utilize a 'model' to help you achieve specific goals. Where weight loss and fitness are concerned, the lifestyle or persons that you choose to use as a model can lead to vastly differing results.
For example, in the documentary film, 'Super Size Me,' Morgan Spurlock, the film's star models the lifestyle of those in our society who eat fast food frequently and don't exercise. In the film, he eats 3 meals a day at McDonalds for a month. In doing so, he reportedly gained about 25lbs. during that month. Is it possible to gain 25lbs. in one month? Absolutely, if you choose to model this approach.
Conversely, there are those among us who we can look to as models for healthy eating and fitness. A few hours of people watching at a fast food restaurant, and again at a local gym may help clarify the difference between who you may want to model.
The choice is always yours. Model a lifestyle based on poor eating and little exercise, and your body will reflect this. By modeling people who live a fitness oriented lifestyle, your health, energy level and physique will reflect this, as well.
As always, be good to yourself. Until next time, Live Lean, Live Fit, and be Well.!

When I was in Medical School, my anatomy professor used to ask this question quite frequently; "If you take a needle and stick it in the area...say, over the left pectoral region of the chest, what 'layers' do you go through?
The answer always started the same. You go through skin, then fat, then muscle, then enter into whatever cavitiy you happen to be over, which in this case, would be the chest.
When people talk to me about losing weight, inevitably we end up talking about exercise. Believe it or not, not everyone feels the same about exercise. Some folks like to exercise, and others would just as soon have a tooth extraction than perform any type of exercise.
Like it or not, your feelings about, and inclination to engage in exercise likely enfluences which of the above mentioned 'layers' define your physique. Specifically, whether or not you choose to engage in resistance, or weight training exercise, will influence which 'layer' (fat or muscle) defines your physique.
Muscle is the most metabolically active tissue, over which we have any external influence. Consequently, if you can stimulate your overall muscle mass on a reqular basis, something I call TBMA or Total Body Muscle Activation, you will increase your resting metabolic rate, and shift your metabolism in a direction which favors fat loss....even while you sleep. And in the process of doing so, you will be taking control of managing which 'Layer' defines your physique.
