The holidays are time of celebration and good cheer, but for many of us that may mean too much good cheer. There is a whole lot of baking and concocting of delectable goodies which get delivered from neighbor to neighbor and from employer and employee to the office. After all is said and done, many of us wish that we had had the will-power to avoid coming into the vicinity of these sugary, high calorie treats. In retrospect, after the new weight has been gained, it is often difficult to reconcile just why we chose to overindulge or what exactly incited us to do so.
Well, I am here to encourage you to forgive yourself, forget about it and get on with the business of focussing on your health.
If you still have candy, cookies, cakes and pastries lying about, it is time to clean house and get rid of the foods which may still be sabotaging you.
Again, as always, I encourage you to pull out your journal and begin keeping track of what you're eating. Plan out your daily exercise and get back to it. Decide that you are going to nurish your body in a manner that supports what you are doing from the standpoint of your daily fitness pursuits.
We are still here to help you along the way.
Here's to a fantastic 2010' for all of you.
All the best!
Dr. Kelley

Here Goes, Jalapeno Cheese Crisps:
This is a quick and easy recipe for when you just need something salty and crunchy to snack on, but won't cause you any guilt. There are only 2 ingredients.
Serves 1
Nutrition: 95 calories, 16grams protein, 7grams carbs, 0 grams fat
Ingredients:
1/2 cup shredded, Kraft Fat Free Cheese
2 tablespoons of sliced pickled or fresh jalopenos
Directions:
1) Spray large cookie sheet with spray olive oil to coat thoroughly
2) As if you were making cookies, take 1 tablespoon of the shredded Fat Free cheese
and distribute evenly in small mounds across the cookie sheet, allowing room in between each so they can spread out as they melt
3) Take 1 jalopeno slice and place it on top of each mound of cheese
4) Place cookie sheet under oven broiler and broil until cheese bubbles and the cheese edges brown slightly
5) Remove from oven and allow to cool. Remove each Jalopeno Crisp from the cookie sheet with a spatula. Nibble slowly and Enjoy!
Don't forget to turn off your oven.
Until Next time!
