Our programs and Our Expertise

  1. Our General Weight Loss Program: The majority of the patients we see, simply wish to lose weight that they may have been struggling with for months to years. We design a dietary/nutrition plan along with a personalized program of exercise to get you on the road to reaching your weight loss goal and we help and guide you every step of the way

  2. ‘Shedding For the Wedding™’:  Every Bride-to-Be wants to arrive at her wedding looking fit, fabulous and stunning.  We help you get ready for one of the most important events in your life, by helping you focus on the key components that we know are necessary to help transform your body, before the big day.  Call us at least 3 months in advance of your scheduled wedding date.

  3. Post Partum Slim Down™:  Pregnancy creates demands on the female body that are often minimized by those who don’t understand its full impact.  Hormone fluctuations, the fatigue associated with being a new mother or a mother of multiple children can make losing weight gained during pregnancy a daunting obstacle for those seeking to regain their pre-pregnancy shape and energy.  We help you make it happen and assist you while you make the transformation from 9 months of pregnancy, back to the body you have always wanted to have and maintain.

Our Elite Athlete Program™:  Our patients and clients in this program have one common desire:  They are seeking to optimize and transform the body to the ‘ideal’ they envision.  Whether this means the attainment of an elite level of fitness, the development of more muscle mass, or the development of an ideal of a fit, toned physique that is highlighted by lean, highly defined muscle, these individuals are serious about creating and maintaining the highest level of physical development for their individual athletic needs and desires.  We help you get there, if that’s what you’re seeking.

Your First Appointment: What Happens?

  • You will be directed to one of the local CPL labs to have your Blood drawn before your first appointment, so we will have baseline lab-work to review with you during your first visit.  We give you a copy of these labs to review with your primary physician, as well.

  • When you arrive for your first visit, we will review your paperwork and get started by establishing your starting weight, height, BMI and Body-fat percentage.  You will have an initial consult with Sherrill, who is our nutrition counselor, as well as our resident personal trainer at the clinic.  She will inform you as to the overall process that you with be undertaking as new patient in our program.

  • We will perform a baseline ECG (electrocardiogram) and then you will meet in a one-on-one consult with Richard Kelley, M.D., who will perform a baseline physical examination followed by a review of your past medical and dietary history, goals for losing weight or improving your fitness.  Dr. Kelley will assess your unique personal history and goals and will provide a detailed plan of nutrition and exercise recommendations, based on your current health, level of fitness and current activity level.  He may also prescribe medication to help with appetite control, if that is indicated and if there are no contraindications for doing so.

  • You will be given a personal journal, an exercise accountability chart and certain starter supplements that we feel may be beneficial to you.

  • If you wish to receive B-12 injections, during the program, you will receive the first of these on this initial visit, again assuming there are no contraindications to doing so.
Medications:  Dr. Kelley utilizes FDA approved appetite suppressants, such as phentermine, where appropriate, to help patients with appetite control.

B-12 injections:  We utilize a formulation of vitamin B12 and three specific amino acids which are felt to help the body mobilize body-fat.  B-12 injections are implemented during patient weigh-ins for those patients choosing this therapy.

BMI and Body-fat Analysis:  We will measure your starting weight, Body Mass Index and Body-fat percentage on initial assessment and at each of your physician follow-up appointments.

Fitness Optimization:  We are here, not only to help you lose weight, but also to help you reach your best level of fitness for your age and stage in life.  We specifically teach how the ‘fittest of the fit,’ lose weight, change and sculpt their bodies and maintain those changes.  This is Dr. Kelley’s specific area of expertise and few physicians anywhere in the country have his level of credibility to teach a philosophy that he not only teaches, but lives himself.

Nutrition Counseling:  You will learn how to optimize your nutrition to enhance your ability to lose weight and improve your strength and fitness.  You will receive custom menu selections based on your personal preferences and goals.

Ongoing Motivation:  We know that the struggle to lose weight may be something you’ve dealt with for a long time. We’re here to help motivate, educate and encourage you every step of the way.

Accountability:  We encourage a combination of journaling and weekly weigh-in accountability checks, to keep you on track and heading in the right direction.  (We don’t charge for you to come weigh in……seriously, why would we?)  Our goal is for YOU to Succeed!

Behavior Modification:  Everyone has certain ‘triggers’ where food is concerned.  We will help you determine what your ‘trigger’ foods, habits or situations are driving you to overeat or make poor food choices and develop strategies to change behavior.

Weight Loss Maintenance Program:  Once you’ve reached your goal weight, we are not just going to pat you on the back and wish you on your way.  We encourage participation in our maintenance program and may continue to utilize specific medications, tools and therapies to help keep you on course for the long run.  Dr. Kelley has been practicing at this location for the past 6 years.

The Tag-along Program:  Feel free to bring a spouse, friend or coworker along on your initial consult, weigh-in or follow-up visits.  This allows someone close to you, who may not be ready to begin our program, to get a glimpse into how we approach the process of helping patients lose weight and get fit, in a non-pressured environment.
